Georgia, on our calendar, is Svaneti.

You fly into Tbilisi or Kutaisi, transfer to Mestia, and spend the week between lift-accessed freeride at Tetnuldi — a Freeride World Tour venue — and remote touring toward Ushba and the side valleys. Evenings are in a guesthouse among UNESCO-listed towers, not a resort hotel.

That is the trip that runs now: January to March, eight days, IFMGA-guided, all-inclusive.

Summer in the same mountains — alpine routes above Mestia and Ushguli — is the next programme. It is not on sale yet. If that is what you want, tell us and we will put you on the list when dates open.

Why Ski Tour in Georgia

  • Tetnuldi plus wilderness

Two days on a 900 m vertical with lifts, then days out from the road. You are not locked to either a resort week or a full hut-to-hut.
  • A living base, not a camp

Mestia is a real town with Svan towers, food, and museums. You ski out of culture, not away from it.
  • The Caucasus skyline

Ushba and Tetnuldi (4,869 m) sit over the itinerary. On a clear day the line of the range is the point.
  • Guides who already work here

Dmitry Rybalchenko leads the Svaneti week. Local knowledge sits alongside IFMGA standards.

How to choose

  • Choose the Svaneti ski week if you want eight days of mixed freeride and touring, a town base, and Georgia in winter. Ability: solid off-piste and touring fitness. Access: Tbilisi (TBS) or Kutaisi (KUT), then road to Mestia.

  • Wait for summer climbs if you want rock and snow routes in the same range without skis. There is no live itinerary to book. Contact us rather than treating Lenin Peak as a substitute — that trip is in Kyrgyzstan.

Getting there from New Zealand

  • Flights

Fly Auckland → a Gulf or European hub → Tbilisi (TBS) or Kutaisi (KUT). We transfer you to Mestia on day one and back to the city on day seven. Build a buffer on the international legs; the mountain road is the slow part.
  • Entry

New Zealand passport holders can usually enter Georgia without a visa for a tourist stay. Confirm the current rule for your passport before you fly. We send joining notes after booking.
  • Packing

Follow the equipment guide. Touring kit and avalanche rescue gear you already know how to use.
